What should I eat before a marathon? An age-old question which is often asked by runners. Especially for them who just entering the world run.
We all know that there are a lot of choices of food can be consumed, but we should be more careful in choosing it before having marathon. Here are some foods that should be consumed early in the run,
1. Bananas
If you’ve ever joined race, this yellow fruit is always provided by the organizers to all participants. Why? Because the carbohydrates and potassium found in bananas can provide great energy.
2. Peanut Butter
Some people only use peanut butter as a complementary meal of wheat bread. But in fact, peanut butter has a great benefit for our stamina. Nuts are rich in fiber and nutrients which can give us extra energy.
3. Yogurt
Milk should be avoided by the runners before taking marathon. But, when milk turns into yogurt, it becomes a great source for our stamina. Yogurt contains probiotic bacteria which good for the digestion and offer a level of protection against detrimental bacteria. Yoghurt also includes low-fat foods and carbohydrates is high enough
4. Oatmeal
Oatmeal is a good food substitute for rice which is great choice to be consumed by the runners. The carbohydrates found in oatmeal provide much energy needed.
5. Pasta
A runner is recommended to consume foods that are easily and quickly digested in order to avoid disruption digestion. Pasta can be alternative.
